Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic to join our growing civil construction team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a wide range of heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, and related machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, trailers, and related machinery using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service inspections on equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, electrical systems, engines, transmissions, braking systems, and powertrain components
  • Inspect equipment to ensure all safety devices are operational, including backup alarms, fire extinguishers, seat belts, lights, and horns
  • Complete service reports, repair documentation, and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner
  • Communicate proactively with the Equipment Manager regarding equipment status, repair timelines, parts needs, and job-related concerns
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards
  • Perform field service repairs and emergency breakdown repairs as needed
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Support additional maintenance and operational assignments as directed by leadership

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or related field preferred
  • Experience working on civil construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, dump trucks, rollers, and skid steers preferred
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, diagnostics, and powertrain repair
  • Ability to read, interpret, and utilize service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Proficient in operating diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Completion of a Heavy Equipment/Diesel Technology program from an accredited vocational or technical school preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Florida CDL preferred
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as business needs require
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor construction environments under varying weather conditions
